Eventful.com, a subsidiary of CBS Corp, is a national website that helps consumers find tickets to the most popular concerts, movies, and local events.

The Situation:

Eventful.com came to 180fusion for help improving their SEO rankings, and specifically for removing a manual penalty assessed by Google. Because of this penalty, website rankings and organic traffic had been steadily decreasing month-over-month, dramatically reducing the website’s profitability. In addition to the manual penalty, Eventful.com also had crawl errors and other HTML issues that would need to be fixed in order to achieve high search engine rankings.

The Solution:

The 180fusion SEO team’s first course of action was to get the manual penalty removed by making sure that ALL outbound links included the “nofollow,noindex” attribute. Once completed, the team corrected all site errors as reported through Google Webmaster Tools, including fixing a robots.txt file that was blocking 1,209 pages from being indexed. Finally, title tags, meta descriptions, and heading tags were rewritten to fix duplicate content issues and ensure that all pages of the site were optimized for maximum search engine relevance.
