How to Use Bing Places for Marketing Your Local Business

If you have not yet started using Bing Places for Business for marketing your local business it is high time you began to do so. While many people might think the contrary, Google is not the only search engine in the world and an awful lot of people use Bing instead. If you are not using the free space that Bing gives you, you can be missing out on a lot of business that might otherwise come your way.

Not only that, but claiming your free space on Bing is quick and easy to do. Bing’s goal is to provide your business with tools that will enable your customers to find you quickly and easily online when they are searching for products and services that you provide, so it would simply make sense to ensure that your presence stands out when they do so. Bing Places for Business now includes a bulk upload feature so that you can manage multiple listings at once.

Here’s how to begin using Bing Places for marketing a local business.

First you need to claim your listing. By doing this you will add trust and authority which will help you rise in the organic rankings on Bing. Simply go to In order to find your listing just enter your business name and zip/post code, or your telephone number. All of the information that you add here will supersede any other data and improve your showing on Bing.

It is possible that some of the information may be incorrect, but here is your chance to sort it. Add your business address, your phone number, website address and email. You can also add your opening hours, the ways in which you accept payment, parking information and you can even list the major brands that you stock.

It is likely that some categories have already been allocated to your listing, but you can add more, or delete any that are not appropriate. You can add up to ten categories, so if, for example, you are a dentist you may want to add “teeth whitening”, “orthodontics”, and so on.

Now you really have the opportunity to make your business shine. You can add your company logo, up to ten images and up to five videos. Since it costs you nothing to do, simply take full advantage and add them. They say a picture is worth a thousand words and it is true that people like pictures and videos. Add all ten photos — your business frontage, items that you stock, and so on (you can change them at any time later if you wish). If you don’t know how to make/add videos it is well worthwhile spending a couple of hours online to find out; it really isn’t that hard — even though you might think it is — and the fact is that people like to see videos online.

Now add your Facebook and Twitter links. If you haven’t got a Facebook and Twitter presence you should have. Remember that this is all FREE advertising — the only thing it costs you is a little time. Once you have it all set up people will be able to find you when they search online and the only thing that can happen is that your bottom line benefits.

Remember that if you don’t take advantage of using Bing Places for marketing a local business, your competitors will. You have been warned!
